With Mars and Saturn in war, and Mercury retrograde and debilitated, April is not a month to make big changes. Our thinking can be muddled. It is time to reflect, and wait till the path is clear. April end will bring more clarity.
Mars and Saturn in Planetary War
From 1-4 April, the biggest malefics are in war. We start April with a tight conjunction between Mars and Saturn in Purva Ashada nakshatra. This happens in the sign of Sagitarrius, the natural ninth house of the zodiac. Mars is the hot planet of aggression, ambition, competition, action, and conflict. Saturn is the cold planet of obstruction, challenges, delays, discipline, responsibility, and adversity. Mars is more comfortable in Jupiter’s sign. Sagittarius represents our gurus, higher teachings, faith. This conflict may be felt as blocks in this area of life, where we are questioning our faith, and feel stuck in life.
This will be particularly felt by Scorpio, Aries, as well as Capricorn and Aquarius.
Mercury Retrograde and Debilitated
Mercury continues its retrograde motion in the sign of Pisces, its debilitation. It starts it retrograde period on March 23 at 00:13 am GMT, going direct on April 15 at 9:21 am GMT. All through April, Mercury remains debilitated in the sign of Pisces. This is a time for reflection, not to make any big decisions.
Sun begins its exaltation
Sun begins its exaltation on April 14 at 15:09 pm GMT. This is a time for Leos to shine. Sun remains exalted till May 15, 1:01 am GMT. The Sun is now clear of Rahu’s malefic aspect that it experienced during its Pisces transit, giving us all a chance to reach for the light and clarity where righteousness and truth have a chance to overcome the masquerading ways of Rahu.
New Moon in Ashwini Nakshatra
The New Moon is on April 16 at 2:57 am GMT at 1:55 degrees of Ashwini nakshatra, also known as the Gandanta point. Gandanta can be seen as a “karmic knot”. Gand actually means “a knot”. And anta means “end.” Gandanta can be translated as “the knots at the end”, and the energy at Gandanta is entwined and complex. Planets transiting gandanta will bring up deep issues that need to be faced; sometimes collectively, and sometimes individually. This gandanta moon is in Aries and could represent new, swift beginnings.
This will affect Aries and Scorpio, and anyone who has lagna/moon in Ashwini.
Full Moon in Swati Nakshatra
The full moon is on April 30 at 1:55 am GMT at 15:31 degrees of Swati nakshatra. It is conjunct a retrograde Jupiter. This moon is free of all malefic influences. Libra’s ruler, Venus is in Rohini, sitting in the moon’s nakshatra, a very beneficial place for Venus. This will have a positive influence on all our relationships, we will feel nourished and satisfied with our connections. Swati is ruled by Rahu, which is sitting in pushya, another nourishing nakshatra.
