December will be a memorable month as it will set the tone for the upcoming year, with the ominous Kaal Sarp yoga to end the year. December also brings us a solar eclipse, a venus retrograde cycle, and a Mars Ketu conjunction.
New Moon Solar Eclipse on Dec 4th in Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyestha
December starts with a solar eclipse. There is a solar eclipse on Dec 4th in Scorpio at 18 degrees in the nakshatra of Jyestha. This eclipse is less dramatic than the one in November. But because the moon is debilitated, it may bring some anxiety.
Communications can also be very emotional at this time due to Mercury’s position but it seems that there will be some sort of resolution now as Mars is alone in Libra getting ready to leave. I have spoken about the eclipse in greater detail and will link the video here:
Mars transits Scorpio from Dec 5th till Jan 16th 2022
The second shift this month is with Mars, and it’s a positive one. Mars had experienced a combust state for many months leading to setbacks as well as a low drive, low confidence and little energy. You would have been affected by this if you are Aries or Scorpio, or if you are going through a Mars dasha.
Mars is very powerful in Scorpio as it represents its home space. Here, Mars can be more calculating and less impulsive as it is in Aries. The first connection Mars makes is with Jupiter vis a vis nakshatra parivartana. This gives a boost to all that is signified in your chart by Jupiter and Mars.
They are both situated in a 4/10 angle from each other so this can bring a stabilising effect to whatever is represented by their lordships. Secondly, Mars will be exactly conjunct Ketu from Dec 14th till Dec 16th. Here you can feel the Ketu fire overpower and absorb the Mars energy, and here, the Mars impulse gets drained somewhat. So the ability to be logical, rational, and strategic may take a back seat. And we can also see some fiery tempers and impulsive decisions being taken now. Passionate feelings can also be overpowering now.
Mars and Ketu together tend to make a person stay angry for longer since the anger can get more internalised, especially in Scorpio. So, whatever comes up, you can suppress your reactions and yet see others being more reactive. Whenever the nodes impact a planet, there is an imbalance in the expression of the planet’s energy – either too much or too little so see where Scorpio falls in your chart, as the drama would take place here.
By Dec 18th, this energy will dissipate and Mars remains strong throughout December. It is a good transit for all the dual signs, Gemini, Sag, Virgo and Pisces, as well as Capricorn and Aquarius. But for Aries, Taurus, Cancer, and Leo, it may feel draining.
Venus transits Capricorn from Dec 8th till Dec 30th
This is a complex transit for Venus but can be a very rewarding one if you take some chances. There may be a fear of taking chances with money and relationships in the beginning of the transit due to Venus getting associated with Saturn, Rahu, and Pluto.
But there will be so much intensity due to the shadow energy of Pluto and Rahu being ultra-strong, that you will likely take some risks. I have made a detailed video on this as Venus goes retrograde on Dec 19th:
Mercury transits Sagittarius from Dec 10th till Dec 29th
Mercury moves into Sagittarius on December 10th. This is a good transit for Mercury, as its dispositor, Jupiter is three signs away in Aquarius, a supportive position. Mercury is free from all malefic influences at this time. When it moves into Capricorn, it makes a conjunction with Venus on Dec 29th. This could be a good day to reconnect with loved ones, especially over the holiday season. If you wanted to express your love or affection for someone this is a good day for that too.
Sun transits Sagittarius from Dec 15th till Jan 14th
The sun finally leaves the nodal axis on Dec 15th and moves into Sagittarius for its annual stay. The Sun in Sagittarius is also free from all malefic aspects. And this is fantastic transit for the Sun. And thus, a great transit for Leos, Aries, and Pisces.
This transit suggests a move toward optimism, as the Sun leaves the stormy tidal waves of Scorpio behind for its soujoun into Jupiter’s sign, a good friend. Sun is well placed in Jupiter’s sign, with Jupiter 11th from it in Aquarius also in strength.
Full Moon in Gemini on December 19th in the nakshatra of Mrigshira
There is a full moon taking place in the nakshatra of Mrigshira at 3 degrees of Gemini on Dec 19th at approx 4:30 am in the morning. Mrigshira is a nakshatra denoting the ‘search’ and in mythology, the deer, personified by Mrigshira, realises that what he is searching for was within him all along. And he got carried away by the sweet scent, which originates from him. This full moon is getting the exact aspect of a well-placed, strong Jupiter, suggesting that there could be an epiphany of sorts at this time. A culmination, a realisation, that connects us to our origin, our roots.
Mars, the ruling planet of Mrigshira, also aspects from its 8th position so we could see some surprise developments now – depending on where Gemini falls for you. Mars’ connection is strong, as Mrigshira is ruled by Mars. Mercury is also aspecting the Moon, and its own house of Gemini, so whatever surprises come up at this time, will be something you will be able to deal with, and welcome, with two benefics aspecting this moon.
Ongoing Saturn-Uranus square and Kaal Sarp Yoga
On Christmas eve, there is a lovely moon opposite Jupiter transit so it’s a good time to celebrate the festive season. But with a Saturn-Uranus square active at that time, it will be a moment where you can see that change is necessary in your life for the matters that pertain to Saturn in your chart. Toward the end of the month, on Dec 30th, Venus will trail back into Sagittarius and move toward the Sun. This is a critical moment as this is the same day that the Kaal Sarp yoga takes effect.
So, we know that there is something fated and ominous related to all matters connected to Venus. You could be revisiting matters that came up at the eclipse of Nov 19 as Venus was prominent then too. It could be that the revelations this eclipse had brought to you is pushing you to make a change in your life with your relationships or your finances. Everyone will experience a shift of sorts, and for many, this may feel inevitable, destined, and fated.
But the actions you take will be thought out as we have a Mercury Pluto conjunction at this time, suggesting deep thinking and the ability to dissect the situation strategically. It is the dawn of big changes as the last day of the year we are in full throttle with the ominous kaal sarp yoga, taking us into the new year.
This may be a life changing moment for many people, especially for the fixed signs, including Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Taurus. As usual, also check what planets are sitting in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius, where all the energy is concentrated. This will colour the entire year of 2022 as well.
