In December, we have a rare phenomenon happening, we have three moon cycles. Two new moon cycles in the very beginning and the very end of the month, and a full moon cycle in the middle of the month. We continue with the Mercury retrograde until we arrive at the full moon mid-month. Venus will zip through Sagittarius, Capricorn, and end the month in Aquarius with Saturn.
New Moon in Scorpio on December 1
This is the first event of December, in the early hours of the morning. The new moon occurs in Scorpio in the nakshatra of Anuradha at around 15 degrees. We have a retrograde Mercury close by in Jyestha, suggesting we are returning to some matter, some unfinished business, related to where Scorpio falls in your chart. There is a new chapter wanting to start, and there is a feeling that we need to revisit and revise some pending matters before we can move ahead.
Mars is 9th place from the moon, and the controlling planet of Anuradha is 4th from the new moon, suggesting an easy flow of energy. Anuradha is a friendly nakshatra, associated with Mitra, and has the power to grant abundance. Anuradha means “following Radha” or after Radha, suggesting a new chapter related to rels, it can mean a second chance with an old relationship, or you may be making a commitment to a second spouse/marriage.
Venus transits in Capricorn from December 2, and then Aquarius from December 28
Venus makes its move into Cap on Dec 2 to stay till Dec 28. Venus is transiting Saturn’s signs all month. Venus in Saturn’s signs can make you serious and sober about all Venusian matters, including love, including money matters. It can instil fear and rejection in these matters, but also can make you organised, planning well for the future.
This will give encourage those who are contemplating a commitment to a loved one, Venus in Saturnian signs can also make you dutiful toward your loved ones and generally, sober toward your life goals.
On December 28, Venus moves into Aquarius where it joins Saturn. Venus stays in Aquarius till January 28, here it connects with both Rahu and Saturn – Rahu by co-rulership, and Saturn by conjunction. It’s a great time to give our relationships a serious glare and understand whether we are meeting the needs of our partners, and ourselves.
Mars turns retrograde from December 6 till February 24
Mars entered Cancer on October 21st and has been lingering here due to its retrograde cycle. Mars will return to Gemini on Jan 21, 2025.
The transit in Cancer may impact domestic life, including property matters, creating some tension there. Because we are talking about Cancer, Mars here can also lead to unethical actions and behaviour. Emotions can run high and some people will be agitated. This agitation and restlessness can be internal and not expressed in a healthy manner. Mars in Cancer can also cause anxiety and uncomfortable emotions. You will notice immature behaviour in others.
But Mars being retrograde wont behave like a debilitated Mars. Rather this retro Mars in Cancer transit is when you can be focused, determined, and strategic, esp when it comes to acquisition.
There will be a lot of dynamic activity when Mars reaches sign of Gemini in January. It is a positive transit for education and travel. In the Gemini portion, Mars doesn’t receive the aspect of any planet.
I have made a separate video where I talk about the impact on all the signs, see below:
Full Moon in Taurus on December 15
In the early hours of the morning, we have a full moon in Taurus conjunct Jupiter on Dec 15. This Moon cycle happens on the last degree of Taurus in Mrigshira. The moon is aspected by a retrograde Mercury from Scorpio just about to go direct.
With two benefics aspecting this full moon, its an excellent omen for money matters. If you are re-connecting with family at this time of the year, you will be feeling quite good. There is certainly return to making revisions in our relationships with the Mercury retrograde, as well as Mars retrograde, controlling planet of Mrigshira.
Sun transits Sagittarius from December 15 till January 14
Later, the same day on Dec 15, we have Sun moving into Sagittarius, a great transit for the Sun. Sun does not receive any aspects, so we can take a sigh of relief as it transits through the sign of its friend, a sign that is in complete harmony with the Sun’s fiery element.
It’s a good transit for educational pursuits and travel. Also good for any activity that you wanted to do for growth and self-development.
Mercury turns direct on December 15, stays in Scorpio till January 4
Mercury goes direct same day as the full moon, suggesting that finally we have culminated a project, a task, there is achievement. And it is something from the past, possibly dealing with a difficult financial situation, now you can understand how to proceed.
If you were making some changes with your finances, how to make money, then now you will get the clarity that you needed, to forge ahead. Mercury leaves Scorpio on Jan 4.
New Moon in Sagittarius on December 30
We have another new moon this month occurring in the far-reaching sign of Sagittarius. The new moon occurs in PurvaAshada nakshatra, connecting with Venus, as Venus is the controlling planet. Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sag, is in Taurus, Venus’ sign. There are no aspects to this new moon.
It’s a time when long-distance travel can feature. It is certainly a time when relationships will take center priority in our lives as well. These are moments to enjoy and a good way to end this year. If you are not celebrating or spending time with family and friends, it’s also a good time to do solo activities, especially adventurous, risk-taking activities.
Wishing Everyone a Happy & Prosperous 2025!
