The major shift that takes place this month is Jupiter moving into Scorpio for 12 months.  Jupiter, the biggest planet, and the biggest benefic, is sure to bring protection, prosperity, luck, and good fortune to everyone in the areas which are impacted by Scorpio in your chart.

Jupiter Transits Scorpio from October 11 – November 5, 2019

On October 11, at 3:30 pm UTC, Jupiter moves into Scorpio and will transit in Scorpio till 12 am on November 5, 2019.  Jupiter will speed through Scorpio and dip into Sagittarius on March 29, 2019 for three weeks till April 23, 2019 when it returns to Scorpio. In Scorpio, Jupiter is comfortable for two reasons:  1) Here, it is in the sign of its great friend, Mars and 2) It is transiting a water sign, where Jupiter feels natural and even gets exalted (in Cancer), so therefore, it can express its true nature.  Essentially, its true nature is to offer prosperity, happiness, expansion, growth, blessings and protection where it is placed in your chart.

In astronomy, Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system, and has protected life on Earth for hundreds of millions of years by shielding us from comets.  It is regarded as the guardian planet deflecting or absorbing comets and asteroids that might otherwise strike the Earth. Because of its high gravitational force, Jupiter acts as a protective force for our planet.

Similarly in Astrology, it offers protection where it is placed and acts as a guiding light. Because it moves slowly and takes one year to transit a sign and 12 years to come back to the place where it sits in your birth chart, everyone will feel its impact one way or the other.  In kendra and trine houses, it is very supportive, so this is a great transit for Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius, as well as Cancer and Pisces.

Scorpio themes will start to come to the surface.  People will get more interested in the realms of research, occult, feel the need to go deeper to understand things, with the need to uncover secrets and hidden desires.  But it will also brings fears and obsessions to the surface, due to Scorpio’s complex nature and secondary ruler, Ketu, the South Node. But Jupiter being the greatest benefic, the outcomes will ultimately be positive for areas in your chart that are affected. Wherever Jupiter transits, it expands and where it aspects, it blesses those areas.

Jupiter from Scorpio will aspect Rahu in Cancer and vice versa for the first six months, till Rahu moves into Gemini in late March 2019.  So, changes that will come will be sudden and quick pertaining to the houses that Cancer and Scorpio represent in your chart.  Both being in water signs it is important to go with the flow and not resist those changes particularly since we are dealing with the sign of Scorpio where hidden matters will come to surface.

In Scorpio, Jupiter will transit over three nakshatras.   First, it will start transit in Vishaka for three weeks, 11 Oct to 28 Oct, and this can be a great time for making investments.  Then, it goes into Anuradha from 28 Oct to 28 Dec.  This is great time for yoga, meditation, and spirituality.  And most of the Jupiter transit will be in Jyestha nakshatra.

By looking at constellations, we can go one step deeper, and uncover the underlying pulse of the planet’s transit, its subtle energies, and therefore connecting on a deeper layer of understanding.  Jyestha is known to be very persevering and capable of accomplishing anything they set their minds to, so this would be a great time to focus your energies in order to succeed in your goals.  Jyestha also gives the tendency to become overly-concerned with recognition and authority so your status and image may receive a boost.  It’s a great time to build support networks, also it would be a great time for new business ventures, as Mercury, who rules Jyestha, signifies commerce and business.  Taking initiative in your family will also bring positive results.

If your natal Jupiter is in Scorpio, then a 12-year period has just ended and a new 12-year phase is now starting, making this an excellent time to plant new seeds.  Anything you start now, whether it is a new project, business, career, residence, relationship, spiritual practice, you can be sure that Jupiter’s blessings will be there.  Being in a Jupiter return cycle, you will undergo a big shift in one of these areas at least, possibly more than one.

Usually Jupiter return is a lucky year where you are in the right place at the right timeIt is a year when people show up in your life to help you achieve your goals and desiresSo it is very important to have clear intentions as they will bring positive resultsYou need to check the lordship of Jupiter and see where it is placed in your chart to get a hint about where you will experience the most growth and luck.  It is a time when you will find new meaning in life, a new purpose, and a new way to live.  Whatever appears in your life at this time, will be a lasting source of joy and abundance.

Please see the video talk related to this transit, where I briefly describe the impact on all the zodiac signs:

Venus Retrograde in Libra October 5 – November 16

On October 5, at approximately 8 pm UTC, whilst transiting the sign of Libra with Jupiter, Venus starts its retrograde cycle in the nakshatra of Swati.

Venus is free of all malefic influences and shares space with the great benefic, Jupiter, till October 11.  And then, its friend Mercury joins on October 6.  This is a good time for reflection and contemplation for all Venus-related matters in your chart.  It is not a good time to make firm commitments with relationships.  But it is a great time to re-connect with old relationships, especially those with a romantic flavour.  You may even meet someone with whom you feel a strong past life connection.

This is a 40-day cycle where making any relationship official is discouraged.  Once we move ahead in November, then we come out of our period of reflection and introspection about our relationships and can move forward with full confidence.   Old lovers may come back into your life, and if you have some unfinished business, then this would be a great time to re-connect with them; on the other hand, if you want to resume an old relationship or liaison of any sort, this is again an excellent time for that.  But it is not an ideal time to begin a relationship with someone new.

Venus is still considered to be strong in its home sign of Libra and thus, we can all enjoy more social activities.  In Swati, ruled by Rahu, who is friendly to Venus, we can expect favourable outcomes if we remain flexible.  Swati means the “Independent one.”  The symbol of this nakshatra is a young plant blowing in the wind, which represents flexibility and agility as well as restlessness.  Changes may be swift and sudden with respect to dealings with others, particularly with Mercury sitting next to Venus.

If you can remain open-minded and diplomatic, and take things in stride, you can achieve your goals.   Reserve firm decisions till after November 16 when Venus goes direct.

Mercury in Libra October 6 – October 26

Mercury begins its transit in October in the sign of its exaltation, Virgo.  Then it slips into Libra joining its friend, Venus, on October 6 at approx. 7 pm UTC.  Mercury will be in Libra till October 26, when it enters Scorpio joining Jupiter.   In Libra, Mercury is well placed and comfortable, as this is not only the sign of its good friend, Venus, but also it is an air sign, where Mercury feels natural and thus, can function in a higher vibration.

New Moon in Hasta, Moon’s nakshatra, on October 9

On October 9, at approx. 5 am UTC, we have a new moon at 22 degrees Virgo, in the nakshatra of Hasta.  This new moon will receive the aspect of Saturn, now moving direct in Mula nakshatra.

Nakshatras, or star constellations, are passive forces, which need the planets to activate them. To reflect on the deeper meaning of life, it is vital to note the nakshatra placements as this will reveal the inner motivation of the planet that resides there. The nakshatra ruler of Hasta is the Moon and the ruler of Virgo is Mercury.  With the moon facing the gaze of Saturn, we could be contemplating serious matters, and with Mercury in conjunction with a retrograde Venus, our attention could be directed toward past relationships.

The word Hasta translates as “the hand” and signifies all activities performed with the hands. This nakshatra also symbolizes agreements and greetings as represented by the handshake. The ruling deity Savitar, an aspect of the Sun, gives the ability to use the hands in a skilled, crafty, or cunning manner. This would be an ideal time to negotiate business deals and contracts with Mercury in dignity sitting along with Venus and Jupiter.  It could be a final resolution on matters that bring forth benefits to all parties involved.   With Saturn’s harsh glance, it would be best to double check all details as whatever you will negotiate will have long term consequences.

Sun Transits Libra October 17 – November 16

The Sun moves from Virgo to Libra on October 17, where it gets debilitated.  The Sun will be joining Venus and Mercury in Libra, in the sign of relationships.   This will be a time where the “Me” principle will have to take second place to the “We” principle, so we may have to concede to others and operate from a place of compromise, particularly if you are a Leo.

Full Moon in Aries, in the nakshatra of Ashwini, on October 24

The Moon moves into Mars’ sign of Aries as she becomes full on October 24 at approx. 6 pm UTC.  The Sun is in Swati and the Moon is in the nakshatra of Ashwini, ruled by Ketu.  This full moon receives the benefic aspect of retrograde Venus as well as Mercury.  There are no malefic influences to the moon.  However, due to a retrograde Venus, we are possibly still contemplating and re-assessing relationship issues, so it is a good time to reflect, but not act.

Aries is ruled by Mars, currently exalted in Capricorn, and Ashwini is ruled by Ketu, who is with Mars in Capricorn.  In astronomy, the twin stars that make up the nakshatra of Ashwini are called Alpha Arietis and Beta Arietis. Similarly, the ruling deities for Ashwini are the twin physicians – the Ashwini Kumaras, which carry a healing energy.  This is a great time to start any healing modalities and with Venus’ direct aspect on this full moon, it is an ideal time for healing in all relationships.  Ashwini gives focus to self-improvement carries the energy of new beginnings, signifying a time of renewal in relationships.

Mars Direct in Capricorn till November 6

Exalted Mars is operating at a good speed moving away from Ketu, the South Node so we can now enjoy the power and force of a well-directed, exalted Mars as he marches through Capricorn until November 6, when he moves to Aquarius.

Mars moving direct in Capricorn can be harnessed to bolster our strength, determination and perseverance as we focus on goals. This is a great time to launch new plans, projects, and ideas.  The only planet to receive Mars’ direct planetary aspect will be Rahu in Cancer.  Yet this serious and heroic Mars will focus on clearing the roads of obstructions that have come about during the chaotic eclipse season that was underpinned by a bunch of retrograde planets. Rahu tends to obfuscate, manipulate and masquerade; however, Mars being stronger of the two can help us excavate the truth and destroy falsities as we plow forward.
